In the todays internet era, using a fastest, better ,stable browser has become important to cope up with the lightening fast internet speeds. So here is a quick review of the latest versions of most preferred web browsers.
We have performed several tests on different browsers ie. Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari on following system specifications...
CPU Usage:
CPU usage reveals how much system resources a browser needs. Resources hogs show higher cpu utilization. Windows Resource monitor was used to obtain average CPU occupation(%) while SunSpider was running to simulate activity.
RAM Usage:
Physical memory used by the browsers with the built in browser extensions/addons (no additional extensions installed). Windows task manager was used to measure memory usage.
Browser Cache Performance:
Total page load times for yahoo.com with primed caches were measured to see how well browsers perform when you have visited a website already. The same variable latency difference may be relevent here with calculating page load times.
CSS Rendering Speed:
Browsers with fast rendering speeds have faster page response times. The nontroppo.org CSS rendering benchmark was used to measure the onload duration for complete table-to-div conversion.
DOM Selection Speed:
The faster a browser can select elements in a web page, the more responsive it is on asynchronous page updates (which most Web 2.0 apps heavily rely on). SlickSpeed was used to see how fast jQuery selects elements.
JavaScript Speed:
Faster JavaScript execution times means that Ajax-heavy sites like Digg and webapps like Gmail will be more responsive to user actions. To test core JavaScript function execution speeds, SunSpider JavaScript Benchmark was used.
Page Load Times:
The total it takes to load yahoo.com was measured using Numion Stopwatch. Note that due to latency differences that occurs with variable site traffic and server load, site was loaded 3 times and avg was taken.
Based on the results, the relative rating of each browser is displayed above.
Google Chrome not only beats others by performance, but also has nice built-in features such as flashplayer, pdf reader..!
